How Do We Resolve?
The solution is to replenish the essential minerals lost during the RO water purification process. There are two ways to do this.
One process is done by using TDS controllers, where they introduce the source water by passing the RO membrane purification process with the RO-purified water, which is subsequently made to pass through other purification channels like UF membrane, post-RO activated carbon filters, and UV purification. As a result, the water produced by the end of the cycle comprises essential minerals.
The downside is that this process is not recommended when the source water contains toxic metal contaminants such as arsenic, mercury, and lead.
The other process utilizes Mineralizer cartridges with mineral granules that leech on essential minerals, such as the RO-purified water, which is made to pass through them. This is a better method of replenishing the important minerals. However, this process is expensive, as the mineralizer cartridges get exhausted soon and also need frequent replacement. Every cartridge costs between Rs 300 and Rs 1000, depending on the brand. This also increases the annual maintenance charges.
